St Rita’s is a well-equipped and highly resourced school. Our classrooms are large, bright and very conducive to learning. In 2010-11, through the generosity of the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER) funding, the Library was modified to add a modern extension fully equipped with an interactive whiteboard and mobile furniture, enabling flexible learning experiences to occur. Our Library is well stocked and features very modern furnishing which adds to the positive experience of learning in this space.
Undercover play areas in a place such as Babinda, which has high rainfall and hot sun, is a must. St Rita’s boasts a large amount of shaded play space, including a recently constructed multi-purpose court. This facility enables physical education lessons to occur out of the harsh sun and rain.
To assist in the development of gross motor skills, interactive circuit play equipment has been installed and is also shaded and waterproofed. This makes for interesting and fun playtimes at St Rita’s.
Master planning of the school involves the redevelopment of the grounds, facilitating improved and safe places for the children to play and learn.
Planning is underway for the redevelopment of the School Administration and staff area, Counselling and Learning Support Areas, to better service the needs of the school community.
Parents and Friends are continually working with staff to improve the facilities though obtaining grants. One project currently being worked towards is the junior play equipment.
