St Rita’s School is located at 7-13 Church St in Babinda, about 50km south of Cairns and 30km north of Innisfail, in Tropical Far North Queensland.
Babinda is a small rural community of approximately 1200 people that is situated on the Bruce Highway, nestled amongst the lush rainforest in close proximity to two of Queensland’s highest mountains, Mount Bartle Frere and Mount Bellenden Ker.
The town is famous for access to the spectacular Babinda Boulders and also is close proximity to the stunning Josephine Falls. The Babinda Bakery is also famous among North Queenslanders, and is well-known for its delicious food, in particular the cream buns!
Babinda and Tully to the south, compete annually for the title of being Australia’s wettest town. Babinda is usually the winner, recording an annual rainfall of over 4200 millimetres each year. The mean minimum temperature is almost 20°C and the mean maximum temperature is over 27°C.
